Funding

The Little Neck-Douglaston Community Ambulance Corps has an annual operating
cost of over $90,000. These operating expenses include,
insurance, ambulance maintenance, fuel, uniforms, medical supplies, utilities,
training, etc. Sources
of Funding:
-
Annual Fund-Drive
from the Little Neck-Douglaston Community. Fund-drive envelopes are
mailed out to all residents of Little Neck and Douglaston annually, but
donations are gladly accepted and deeply appreciated anytime during the
year. If you would like to receive an envelope to make a donation,
please complete the following form:
- Cost
Recovery -- Cost Recovery for the Little Neck-Douglaston Community Ambulance Corps is handled
by Certified Ambulance Group (CAG). The majority of the patients we transport have a benefit or entitlement, which cover emergency ambulance transport. When
using the Cost Recovery program, these third party payers such as Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance and auto
insurance are sent statements to recover the costs of the care and transportation.
This money is available for every ambulance service which meets the minimum state requirements.
For more information on the cost recovery program, visit our cost
recovery page.
- Donations of Redeemable Cans and
Bottles -- The Little Neck-Douglaston Community Ambulance Corps gladly
accepts cans and bottles that are redeemable for the 5 cent deposit (soda,
beer, etc.). These bottles are collected and redeemed to support the
Ambulance Corps. While this may be considered a small donation, it is an
important contribution in the long run. It not only brings in more
funding to the Ambulance Corps, but also helps the environment through
recycling. If you have any redeemable cans and bottles you wish to
donate, drop them off at the Ambulance Corps Headquarters, 42-18 Marathon
Parkway. There is usually a recycling can near the front door marked
"5 Cent Deposit
Recyclables."
